"Boys are a mess," said Joshua Aronson, an associate professor of applied psychology at New York University, in the New York Times last month. No proof, no data, just boy bashing.
This does have a negative affect on males and their perception of being treated fairly in school - - which they are not. A Florida State University professor documented the downward trendline of boys expecting to go and graduate from college. Boy bashing really does damage.
If Aronson had some proof, that would be different. But the OECD has accurately noted that the US is one of the worst countries in gender discrimination against males in education. If Aronson had said this about females, Jews, Irish or especially African American boys (boys does include black boys of course, but he would deny that) he would be fired. Instead, he gets praised.
Photo: my first sighting of a baby Trumpeter Swan while canoeing. A beautiful bird, the largest fowl in North America - - when grown up.
