"While prudence may prosper in a static world, it is a futile virtue in a dynamic one." So wrote American author Winston Churchill in a book written in 1916, one hundred years ago. Don't forget the 100 year parallels.
Just read that passage this week, and 1916 of course just like 2016. Mrs. Clinton picks a nice man, but a man from the last century, a "prudent" choice they all say, to be her running mate. We predicted four years ago the Dems will win the White House in 1916, and that prediction seems on track.
But 2020 is a different matter. And so is 2017-2019. The Dems are taking Gen Y for granted, and by 2020 the GOP will be embracing the Gen Y agenda as much as the Dems. The lack of a progressive Gen Y running mate will be followed by a pro-status quo administration. It was the Dem superdelegates who nominated Mrs. Clinton as a status-quo candidate two years ago. We will see how far Gen Y, progressives, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren can get in the next four years. I hope they get Gen Y's agenda passed. But it does not look like it is enough right now.
