Kraftwerk pioneer in 3-D music

Last week sons Willie and Jason went to the Kraftwerk 3-D music concert.

With themes of man and machines, past and future, Kraftwerk sounds very NineShift-ish to me.  

Everyone wore 3-D glasses to see the visual effects.  A group unknown to me until now, Kraftwerk actually guys my age, starting the group in 1970. As Willie told me, "You JUST missed the boat"  in discovering Kraftwerk. 

Media Art the new 21st century art

"Media art" appears to be a major new art form of the 21st century.  

Our son's friend Landon Humphreys came home from Los Angeles last week.  He does lighting and 3-D work for artists and museum shows.  He will go to Istanbul soon to set up one such media art exhibit for a museum there. 

Media art involves technology.  Interestingly, Landon said people considered using the term "new media art"  but 'new' would not have much longevity.  One hundred years ago people used the term "modern art" to describe 20th century art such as Picasso and others.

100 years ago we saw new music, art and culture emerge. 
Now we have a sense of what that new art might be like for this century.

How to fund the trains - - sell development rights

The land around train stations is so valuable a train expert says that around Pennsylvania train stations the development is worth $1 billion for each train stop. 

And that one way to fund trains is to sell the property and development rights around the train and light rail station stops.  

This is the city of the 21st century - - a densely population one mile radius around a train or light rail stop, with businesses, offices, schools and everything else one would need to live.
