The year 2015 has already been huge for trains, I told the All Aboard Wisconsin conference in the Wisconsin Dells two weeks ago. Here's my top 5 big train events of the year so far:
.The emergence of the private sector in providing passenger rail.
.Groundbreaking for California High Speed Rail.
.The plans for private high speed rail in Texas, which may begin sooner than the California service.
.Marriott choosing to relocate its HQ to a light rail line, signalling both a major shift in relocation for recruiting employees, and also a recognition that future hotel customers will want rail availability.
.The continued record ridership for trains, the continued stabilization or decline of miles driven, and the lack of a way for states to adequately fund highways moving forward.
