Anti-Male Feminists to extort Facebook Next

Next prediction: the anti-male feminists will extort money from Facebook for another STEM camp type educational program.

The article today in USA Today had anti-male feminists (boys should be raised like girls) screaming NOT that 85% of K-12 teachers are female, but that Facebook employees are 70% male.

Jessica Guynn wrote "the lopsided numbers....paint a stark picture of an industry sector dominated by white men."

Last week Google, under pressure from the anti-male feminists, kicked in $50 million for STEM camps.
If anti-male feminists really wanted change, they would have advocated that Google hire more women and put more women on their Board.

But the strategy appears to maintain gender inequality in education, favoring girls in school, and preventing boys from achieving their goals in education and the workplace. The OECD has said the U.S. is one of the worse nations for gender equality - - with a huge gender bias against boys.

Gen Y Landslide: Unions

Here's another societal issue where Gen Y may very well triumph: unions.

"The Pew Values Survey in 2007 asked respondents whether and to what extent they agreed or disagreed with the following assertion: Labor unions are necessary to protect the working person. An overwhelming 75 percent of Millennial voters either completely or mostly agreed with the statement." Source.

There's a ways to go, of course. Our daughter in law suggests that unions, like many other institutions in society, need to respond to Gen Y's interests and ways of engaging in action.  And she also suggests that her fellow Gen Yers would benefit from some education and training about ways in which young people can support unions and even help in organizing efforts.

The Higher Ed Model is Broke: Part 49

Selecting a major and minor easy? Not so fast.

Willie is set to start classes at the university, a great victory. He has selected a major. But one person at the university said the university offers a minor in his chosen area, statistics.  Another person at the university said the university does NOT offer a minor in statistics.

The kicker:  both people are student advisors at the university.

Higher Ed Model is Broke: Part 48

Willie found out he can't register for classes without "orientation."

Part 48 in the ongoing saga of our son getting into university. He's not alone of course, higher ed system designed to keep students from graduating, is broke now that we need more kids to graduate.

Orientation, he says, is mainly for parents, not students. He finally got orientation, which he said was a two hour sales pitch for the university, and of course he has already enrolled in the university.  Stay tuned: selecting a major and minor not as easy as you would think.

Girls: Coding is NOT Cool

Young women:  coding is NOT cool.  Despite the new Google funded $50 million program to convince you coding is cool, it's really not.

If you want to do coding, go for it.  We need more computer scientists.  But don't let the Boomer feminists, most all of whom would never and did never do STEM, push you into something you would not prefer.

It is just very sad that:
1.Google gets harrassed into a worthless use of $50 million.
2.Boomer feminists continue to try to push young women into STEM and disallowing young men to go into STEM.

Soccer to be USA's Big Sport in the 21st Century

Gen Y will make soccer, what everyone else in the world calls football, America's biggest sport in the 21st century.

Here's why:
1.American football reflects the values of the Industrial Age, not the Knowledge Age.
2.Football is too concussion dangerous. Gen Y won't want their children to play football.
3.Gen Y is internationally conscious in business, culture and travel.

Shailene Woodley is Correct

Young actress Shailene Woodley was correct in her statement about feminism and the proper balance between the sexes.

Her statement put older third-wave (boys should be raised like girls; male characteristics are inferior) feminists on their heels, all-of-a-sudden doing a turnabout and maintaining their brand of feminism doesn't try to pull men down (it does).

Woodley's comments hopefully reflect a growing attitude among Gen Y women that Betty Friedan, not Gloria Steinem (third wave), was right.  Friedan, a mother of boys, always maintained that women and men were both good and equal, just different.
