What most people fail to realize is that most successful entrepreneurs, today as in the past, got lucky.
Yes they are/were brilliant. Yes they worked hard, really hard. But in addition they got lucky. In a New York Times article, Simon Baker,chief executive of Baker Ave Asset Management, which manages about $1 billion, mainly for tech entrepreneurs, says, "The reality is only 5 percent of these people are going to have another hit. There are only a few serial entrepreneurs out there."
This isn't bad, it isn't good, it is not a criticism: it's just the way things work. For every very successful inventor or entrepreneur out there, there are 2,500 others who almost- - but not quite- - made it. They just weren't as lucky.
