Here's road construction we can all support: new bike paths.
Bike commuters was up 70% in 55 major cities from 2000-2009. And in vacation-land, where this photo is taken, more people are bike riding. Bike riding is healthy, safe, inexpensive, and does not destroy the environment.
A new bike path being built in northern Wisconsin. Recently the Lt. Gov of Michigan announced a non-stop bike route for 500 miles, from the western most city in Michigan to the Ohio border.
Fine, fine--provided they aren't also trying to destroy an active or still-intact railroad to do it, which is exactly what's happening in New York in at least two locations, and possibly a third--and the latter even has freight trains running on it!
