Suburbs begin go into decline in 2012.
Nine Shift predicted it in 2004,
and two years ago we even wrote it would begin in 2012.
Another big prediction for NineShift comes true!
In April, the U.S. Census Bureau reported that central cities are now growing faster than suburbs. The nation's leading housing expert, Robert Shiller, then said that suburbs are in permanent decline. Another housing expert also reported the only suburbs still growing are those with train stations.
This is life changing. And only NineShift predicted it. This has an enormous impact for institutions hosting lifelong learning and continuing education programs. It affects home values. And everything else. The lesson: get a train station, or else go into decline.
