Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright.

I'll be adding more to the subject of "wimpy Americans" later, but my wife called my attention to this, and I thought you might find it interesting. Note that the work being talked about is physical, but it is problem-solving, too, it's needed, and it can't be outsourced very well.

Gee whiz, I don't even know where to start.

First, I can understand only too well how some people can be fearful. Having your spouse lose her job two years ago, while paying on a house that was intended to have two people paying for it is not easy; I'm not even sure as to how we are going to get through the winter, much less keep the house. No luck for either of us in finding replacement or better jobs is no help, either.

At the same time, it seems the people who complain the worst, the people who make up the biggest contingent of the TEA Party, and the people who back up the TEA Party, are the ones who have the least to complain about. These people range from the insanely rich corporatists who have so much money and so much worth that they could (and arguably should) just buy an island like Hawaii or Jamaica and form their own country for themselves, to the great bulk of the TEA Party membership (and, from what I can tell, the very great bulk of the people who fight against trains) who are fortunate enough to be retired and to have their houses paid for. I would be able to live very nicely (if modestly) on the puny pension I could receive right now if my house was paid off.

The complainers have undue influence in my opinion. About the only thing I can add for now is that the politicians we have for leaders are even wimpier than the crybabies of the TEA Party; it seems they are unable or unwilling to speak the truth about the problems we have, many of which we have brought upon ourselves for at least the last 30 to 40 years.
