I grew up in Broken Bow, NE where coal trains pass through every 10 min. As a chid, I very rarely remember hearing them. As an adult, while visiting after 20 years, the first night they woke me up every time, but now I sleep right through them, just like when I was a kid.

I grew up near Detroit - and we had salt mines nearby. In the afternoon you'd hear a big rumble from the Earth. To this day, I'm still not afraid of salt mines :)
