Big news on high speed trains this month! The House transportation committee wants Congress to spend $50 billion on high speed trains, up considerably from the $8 billion now allocated.
The bi-partisan support is being led by Congressmen Jim Oberstar (D-MN), John Mica
(R-FL), Peter DeFazio (D-OR) and John Duncan (R-TN). Read all about it here.
The legislation has NOT passed Congress yet. In fact, there are indications that the Obama administration opposes more support for trains. But it is the next step. And good news. The battle between trains and cars goes on. Guess which will win?
