« Bail out the Big Box | Main | Estimating 21st century investment in the Obama infrastructure plan »

Alison Toms

Having read Nine Shift last year, I've been sensitized to some of the "predicted" changes. I'm living in Canada, and our national railway, Via, (which isn't terribly national as it doesn't hit too many Canadian cities due to lack of funding and passenger traffic in the last 25 years or so) is now running some TV ads. These are graphics of someone riding a train, with laptops appearing, books, phones, food and drink, etc...all the activities Draves anticipates will to able to do on the train. Via is doing better in the more populated eastern provinces, but not terribly well in the west, where we yet don't have a rail link between Alberta's major cities! If our governments want to help pull us out of this recession by investing in infrastructure, this is the place to do it.
