I think you're on to something here. This feels like my neighborhood even though 1)I don't live in a big city and 2) I don't live in a condo.

In my neighborhood, the Boomers' kid are graduating from high school and they're moving out. A bunch of Xers have moved in with their kids and it is starting to feel a little bit like the TV shows "The Wonder Years" (remember that one?).

If you stand out in your driveway, it takes less than 5 minutes from someone to walk over and talk about the weather or give you a gardening suggestion for planting flowers near your new fence. Just this morning a neighbor dropped her daughter off to catch the school bus with my daughter at our house, because she had an early dog grooming appointment.

These may seem like small things, but I was a teenager in the 1980s and grew up thinking I had to get myself one of those red power suits and work 14 hour days in a "corporate" environment. Luckily, now that I'm in my 30s, I have a really awesome balance of family, friends, and work.

I have another thought: Shift 10 -The potluck block party makes a comeback. :)
