One person can make a difference.
Gaylord Nelson was such a person. He died this month at the age of 89.
He was a United States Senator and Governor of Wisconsin.
Sen. Nelson:
* Initiated the Wilderness Fund in 1964.
* Was instrumental in the founding of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
* Was important in the Clean Air Act.
* Was key to the Clean Water Act.
And he is most remembered as the father of Earth Day.
Nine Shift fact: he is only the second person to have a Memorial Service at the Wisconsin capitol, the other person being Robert LaFollette, a societal difference-maker 100 years ago.
