By saying there aren't enough white men to win the presidency, John Boehner last week started a new phase in the acceptance and support of the 21st century: the fight for Gen Y.
His statement was totally true, of course, especially since "white men" is really old high school graduate white men.
Donald Trump's support for LGBT rights, at least in terms of restrooms, also was an initial step towards garnering Gen Y support.
Meanwhile it will be interesting to see what the Democrats do to try to maintain their Gen Y support after dismissing the Gen Y candidate of the year, Bernie Sanders.
Here's what we know: over the next four years, the Republican Party will gain more Gen Y support (they have nowhere to go but up) and the Democratic Party will have a rough time holding onto Gen Y with last-century establishment politicians in power.
